The Tasting Room is open for business 6 days a week, Monday – Saturday, and even more in the run up to Christmas!
This is the home for smoked salmon and smoked fish, such as mackerel, eel, haddock, all from Ireland, including Irish wild salmon caught on the estuary of the River Lee.
Everything we sell is handmade, and cold smoked in Ireland’s only surviving timber smokehouse where fish are hung for smoking, or hot smoked in our kiln, here on the premises.
In addition to the core range of smoked fish produced in our smoke house, we sell a range of smoked fish pâtés, salads and fishcakes all made by hand in our kitchen fresh for market.
We believe hand on heart that it is truly the best smoked salmon in Ireland (and further afield), thanks to our unique, genuinely artisan method, which takes time, and which ensures the smoked salmon is lean, tender and full of character and flavour.

 

TASTING ROOM NOW OPEN

The Tasting Room shop is open for all our smoked fish, Monday to Saturday 10.00-17.00. There is handy parking outside. To avoid any disappointment, we recommend you to pre-order our kitchen products online. We offer a Click & Collect service which generally requires 2 days’ notice. If you are really stuck, email or call us.

 Public Tours and Tasting Platters

Tours are available daily and must be booked online 36 hours in advance. They last approximately 45 minutes, are for a minimum of 2 people, maximum 10, and are always accompanied by a generous tasting platter.
If you drop in unannounced we will offer you a Tasting Platter if we have staff to look after you. However, please understand that this is not a café or a restaurant, but a smoke house that offers good things to eat. For more information, please read our ‘VISIT THE SMOKE HOUSE’ page.

 Private Tours with Relaxed lunch

We also offer bespoke private tours with our smokers including Frank himself and/or Caroline, a former food writer and restaurant critic, who has run the smokehouse for 20 years. You will gain a unique insight to smoking and life at the smoke house in a behind-the-scenes tour, after which you be treated to a one of a kind lunch or mealtime of your choice (We also offer brunch and afternoon tea.) You will be indulged the finest food while immersed in the day to day of a working smokehouse.

We are happy to spend as much time with you as you wish, or we can give you complete privacy. You may also like to pre-order items to be shipped for your arrival home, choosing your own fish from the smoker. Additional entertainment such as visiting Cork’s vast natural harbour by boat, can also be arranged.

 Lunch Only

As we are a working smokehouse, we can’t always offer tours and some groups may prefer just to come for lunch between, say, garden visits and a trip to Spike Island … With notice, we can provide a delicious informal local menu in a smoke house setting for medium sized groups (8-24). These must be pre-booked.

 Gatherings

From time to time we can accommodate large team meetings, and special interest/educational group tours with enough notice. Groups may need to be split to accommodate everyone comfortably on the tour and in our Tasting Room & Garden. These can only really be held outside the normal shop hours (Monday to Saturday 10.00-17.00), but in exceptional circumstances we may be able to accommodate you during normal smoke house hours.

 Private Dinner Party or Sunday Lunch at the Smoke House

We can offer a very unique, private experience of evening dinner parties or Sunday lunch at the smoke house. Food will be served from bespoke smokes for your group, such as fresh whole mackerel straight from the hot smoker, smoked lobster etc. Seafood lovers are at a particular advantage but we can also provide vegetarian and vegan dishes.
Unlike restaurants, we do not have multiple sittings and our space is completely private. We can offer a wine, whiskey or local beer tasting option with a local wine merchant (additional charge) or you can bring your own wine or champagne as we are not licenced. (Corkage fee applies.)
